Performa
South Africa-born, US-based art historian, critic and curator RoseLee Goldberg founded the non-profit organization Performa in 2004 to advance, showcase and educate the public about performance art. It also hosts a hot-ticket gala every fall to celebrate new work and achievements in performance art.
Prospect worked with Performa for its fall 2018 event, which honored Christo and Jeanne-Claude, the husband-and-wife artist duo known for their vibrant, large-scale environmental sculptures. The gala featured a dessert ceremony designed by Antoni Miralda, a Spanish artist and long-time friend of Christo’s. Together, we created a limited-edition artist plate with a graphic, black-and-white camouflage print – an homage to El Internacional, Miralda’s downtown New York restaurant and a creative hub for performance art, food and drink, and design in the 1980s.
